Ayman Abdelaziz's Diyarbakirspor managed a goal-less draw at the home of Ahmed Hassan's former club Besiktas.

Ayman made a strong statement with his performance today. He is able to play under pressure from players and fans and should surely be considered for the Egyptian national team.

Playing at one of the world's toughest stadiums, the Inonu, against the champions of Turkey, who have just won away to Manchester United in the Champions League, Ayman performed very steadily.

Diyarbakir frustrated the hosts throughout the game, playing quick passes and with many men behind the ball. The second half saw around nine defenders back for Diyarbakir as they won a valuable point in the hardest match of the season.

Ayman was a class act. He did nothing overly special, but was solid as a rock in the defensive-midfield position. He made tens of first time passes, and gathered the ball numerous times and passed it back to his defence in order to calm the game down. He made a few blocks on the edge of the box, and when under pressure, cleared the ball well.

The Egyptian also made two nice quick through balls to the lone striker who was, however, constantly isolated.

Despite Besiktas' efforts, it was Diyarbakir who came closest to scoring mid-way through the second half when a low free-kick from outside the box bounced off goalkeeper Rustu's left post. Besiktas' passing was wayward and their shots inaccurate, but Bobo had the chance of the day when he found the ball inside the six-yard box, only for a central finish resulting in a good save by Diyarbakir's keeper Gokhan.

Ayman's role increased the confidence of his team-mates today, and he proved once more through his magnificent pass ratio that he is a composed and clever midfielder. He makes very simple passes to the closest player next to him, but they keep the ball moving and increase the possession of his team.

Besiktas fans showed their anger after the match, but Ayman went straight into the changing rooms unlike his team-mates who stayed on the pitch congratulating themselves for the draw.
