Ayman Scores Wonder Goal
Date: 17-2-2008
Wrote by: EP's editor Islam Issa

In heavy snow, Ayman Abdelaziz took the limelight, scoring a superb half-volley with his left foot to seal a valuable win for Trabzonspor. Sayed Moawad remained on the bench, as expected, as the weather and pitch conditions were definitely not suitable for his debut! Ibrahim Said didn't play for Ankaragucu.

Great goal for the Egyptian star in Turkey...

Moawad, who vowed to succeed at his new club, watched his compatriot score one of the best goals any Egyptian player has scored this season, and perform wonderfully on the whole. When substituted in the last minute, Ayman received huge applause from Trabzon's fans.

Trabzon managed to win three in a row for the first time this season, including two away matches on the trot. Such form may see them climb into the European qualification positions.

A brilliant through ball to Umut Bulut saw him slot the ball coolly into the side of the net to give Trabzon the lead in the first half. Ankaragucu applied pressure but were unable to get a goal thanks to some stubborn defending as well as the referee.

Heema's team had three penalty shouts, one of which was an obvious foul by the Trabzon keeper, waved away by the match referee.

In the 66th minute, Ayman scored a fine half-volley with his left foot into the corner of the goal, which left the keeper with no chance. A long ball was made from a free-kick and chested down to the Egyptian, who fired home with a superb floating toe-poke.

Just minutes later, Ayman turned away from a defender and hit a high shot from outside the area which curled wonderfully just off the target; again the keeper had no chance.

The game ended 2-0 and it was a great day for the Egyptian, who battled in both defence and attack, meriting a yellow card for a late challenge though. Abdelaziz also showed his ability to play in all conditions and adapted to the white pitch perfectly.

Elsewhere in Turkey, Genclerbirligi won their match against Manisaspor, by two goals to one. Egyptian defender Abdelzaher El Saka didn't participate, however.
