Any hopes of winning the league are gone for Trabzon,
who will enter the winter-break in 9th place despite
the new life brought in by Ersun Yanal. The 3-2 loss
to Fenerbahce meant the three other giants have run
away from Ayman's club.
Trabzon entered the game with an attacking
attitude, and the hosts made them pay. Deivid and Semih
scored in the 4th and 17th minutes respectively and
the game because an up-hill challenge. The game became
tense and even more difficult for Trabzon as both Huseyin
and Ayman got into the ref's book for strong challenges,
and the central midfield's tackles were weakened from
the 19th minute for fear of dismissal.
Ayman had an effort on goal after quarter of an hour
in an attempt to equalise. The long distance shot was
saved well by the goalkeeper though.
Trabzon did surprise everyone and get right back into
the match. Yattara's dangerous wing play led to an easy
finish for Ceyhun in the 21st minute to make the score
2-1.
But it didn't last long, as a super move by Fener led
to a good finish by Alex, and Trabzon had it all to
do again at 3-1.
Two minutes later Ceyhun made it 3-2 and the match
was on fire. Fener managed to go in at half-time leading
though, and were able to regroup after the interval.
In the second half, Trabzon attacked but to no avail,
and didn't test keeper Volkan enough. Fener received
five yellow cards in the second half as they roughened
up to tighten the game on their visitors.
Transfer Window:
The break will be a chance for Ersun Yanal to readjust his
side. He is already close to bringing in two top attacking
midfielders in Selcuk of Manisaspor, and Ahmed Hassan's former
team-mate at Besiktas Ibrahim Akin.
Ayman Abdelaziz is not for sale, but is not going to the
African Cup of Nations, it seems.
Yesterday Hossam El-Badry, Ahly's assistant manager, denied
rumours linking Ayman with the Cairo club.
