In one of the most awaited matches of the Turkish season, Ayman Abdelaziz's Trabzonspor failed to do the job against rivals Galatasaray, losing to a second half strike in a tight encounter.

Ayman Abdelaziz, who may finally be called up for the Egyptian national team, had a good game with his physical presence, but Gala's attacking midfield was completely free in the goal situation.

The loss means that Trabzon's hopes of lifting the Super Lig trophy are somewhat fading, though they could still recover and go again for the top.

Visitors Gala had the early attacks but couldn't get the ball on target. Meanwhile, Trabzon had the best chance as Ibrahim Yattara ran on the right and delivered a superb cross which Umit Bulut headed just wide. Meanwhile, Gala looked strong on the counter and forced some decent goalkeeping.

The Egyptian midfielder received an awkward bouncing ball in the middle of park and Hassan Sas was quick to come and intercept the ball from Ayman as he controlled it. Sas over-ran the ball with his touch though and it led to him jumping with a high kick into Huseyin's chest.

The tense atmosphere continued. A Gala through pass from the right was played, but Ayman, coming at pace, lunged into the passer after the ball was played. The chance went on but the referee came back to Ayman to give him a yellow card.

In the second half, the pressure went to the fans. Lincoln wasn't able to take a corner as the Trabzon fans were throwing paper on him, as well as some heavier objects. It came as a surprise for the fans who have just returned to the stands after a lengthy ban!

But it was the visitors that applied pressure on the pitch. Trabzon survived for large periods before the dead-lock was finally broken. Volkan passed to Serkan Calik, who was given too much space to advance and shoot, and made no mistake.

In the final minutes, Trabzon had a good penalty appeal turned down after a hand-ball inside the box.

It should be noted that Ayman is now the only in-favour Pharaoh in Turkey, with Mohamed Abdullah, Abdelzaher El Saka and Ibrahim Said not in action for various reasons.
