Genclerbirligi continued to improve their home
form, beating Denizlispor 3-1. This is their third win
of the season, and puts them in a sound position.
The three goals were important for Alkaralar,
who had previously been the lowest scoring team in the
league. They now have seven goals in eight games, but
the second-worst defence in the league.
Such an emphatic win was vital ahead of the three tough
matches coming up, the first at the Inonu against Ahmed
Hassan's former club Besiktas, then home to Trabzonspor,
before travelling to Istanbul once more to play Galatasaray!
The game against Denizlispor provided some good entertainment
from a Gencler side that Ayman Abdelaziz captained.
The Egyptian has the arm-band this season.
It didn't take long for the promising Isaac Promise
to get on the score-sheet, after a massive kick from
goalkeeper Gokhan provided him the opportunity.
Promise scored another just before half time, when he
latched onto a good ball from Darman.

Gencler were given a scare when they conceded after just three
minutes of the second half. It was unfortunately Ayman Abdelaziz's
completely wayward pass that put Ilkay through on goal, before
he was impeded by keeper Gokhan. He got away with a yellow
card but couldn't stop the spot kick from going in.
Luckily, Gencler got a penalty of their own minutes later,
after Mehmet Nas was fouled in the box. Okan stepped up and
scored, but his over-celebration resulted in a second booking
and Gencler were down to ten men.
Gencler survived any late scares and pick up three points
that will give them confidence ahead of the big games coming
up.
