Ayman Abdel-Aziz played a good game as his side drew with the defending champions in the opening game of the entire season. Our Egyptian midfielder registered the first real chance of the new season.

At the match in Ankara there were more Fenerbahce fans present than Genclerbirligi fans despite the venue.

Goalkeeper Rustu who was loaned from Barcelona once again wasn't in Fenerbahce's line-up. Instead of him Volkan was the goalie. Fener's new transfer Stephen Appiah was in the starting eleven.

As for Genclerbirligi, the new transfers, the Swedish Risp and the Nigerian Isaac played in the first eleven, but the other Swede Jardler and the Brazilian Oliviera were substitutes.

Ayman played from the start and completed the entire game. Gencler lost captain Erkan who was under suspension and couldn't feature in the match.

Match Highlights:

13th minute: The Egyptian Ayman Abdel-Aziz hit a strong shot at goal but Volkan kept it away. On the rebound Isaac collected the ball in the penalty area but his shot was blocked by Luciano.

20th minute: Alex used a corner kick. Deniz headed it inside the penalty area. Tuncay then shot from close distance but the ball hit the bar! The defence then cleared the danger away.

21st minute: The ball passed keeper Omer after Aurelio's shot but it hit the post! Fener hit the woodwork twice in a minute!

22nd minute: With a deep pass Sertan was one on one with the keeper but Volkan charged in time and cleared the danger.
