The
Pharaohs achieved a non convincing 3-0 home win over
Rwanda. The first half ended goal-less after a anticlimactic
show from the home side. In the 2nd half, a goal by
Abotreka heloped to soften the tight Rwandian defense
and allowed the Pharaohs to score two more goals through
Abd Rabo (Penalty kick) and Abotreka who scored in the
stoppage time.
Playing against poor teams like Rwanda
requires scoring an early goal to create spaces in their
tight defenses and allow more goals to get in. However,
the first goal for Egypt was delayed till the final
third of the game and this accounted for the poor display
from the Pharaohs despite the victory.
If Abotreka's goal came in the first ten
minutes of the game, the score would have been 5-0 or
more. But the wasteful Pharaohs missed many chances
throughout the game and allowed their inferior opponents
to grow in confidence and hold the score to a 0-0 draw
until Abotreka's goal.
The Pharaohs couldn't deal with the pressing
game from Rwanda. Such pressure caused alot of confusion
to Egypt players and resulted in poor passing and finishing.
In the end, Egypt won the match by three
goals. The margin should have been bigger and goals
should have come earlier but the national team got the
job done and should focus on the coming challenges.
With such poor display in the first half,
poor finishing despite the many chances that the Egyptians
failed to convert, winning in Zambia and Rwanda won't
be a simple mission. The return of Mido, Zaki and Meteb
to the national team is mandatory to give the attack
more efficiency.
