In the opening day of the Confederations Cup, Iraq vs South Africa match ended in a bore draw. On the other hand, Spain crushed New Zealand by five goals to nil.

The Confederations cup tournament has begun. The opening match between the host nation (South Africa) and the Asian champion, Iraq ended in a bore draw.

The first half was even, but the home team controlled the 2nd half and with a little luck, they could have been the match winners.

Both teams didn't show anything special in the game. The South Africans used to be a major force in African football ten years ago but the current generation is not at the same standard and so, the Bafana-Bafana team couldn't take advantage from playing at home.

On the other hand, Iraq looked happier with the draw as the South Africans had more chances especially in the 2nd half.

In the 2nd match, Spain displayed their full array of talents as they defeated the hopeless New Zealand by five goals to nil.

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres scored the first hat-trick in Confederations cup in the first 16 minutes to reflect Spain's total domination on the game.

A few minutes later, Arsenal's World class midfielder Fabregas made the score 5-0 while David Villa made the final score 5-0 in the 2nd half.

It should be noted that the 2nd day of the competition will include two matches. The first between Brazil and Egypt while the 2nd will involve USA and World Champions, Italy.

More on Confederations Cup will be available soon...
