The
draw for the final qualifying phase for World Cup 2010
has been made. The Pharaohs avoided Morocco and Tunisia
and got Algeria, Rwanda and Zambia. This will surely
boost the Pharaohs chances of reaching South Africa
2010.
Egypt have been drawn with the last two
World Cup winners, Italy and Brazil, as well as the
USA.
The 2009 Confederations Cup draw looks obscurely unfair!
While Group A looked weaker than an average African
Cup of Nations group, Egypt's group is too competitive
to even be a World Cup group!
South Africa, Iraq and New Zeland (none of which have
reached the last World Cups or look like reaching the
next) are drawn with Spain in Group A. Only Spain looks
a world class force here.

Egypt are with the USA (who have reached the World Cup 2nd
round many times in a row) and are a good footballing force,
as well as Brazil and Italy!
It will be a good test for Egypt against strong opposition,
though having placing them in place of any Group A team would
probably see them qualify to the semi-final of the competition
with relative ease!
