The
Pharaohs met expectations in a dominant win over Djibouti
by four goals to nil. However, the score should have
been more but playing with one real striker resulted
in the team being unable to score more than one goal
in the first half. With Abdel Ghany who replaced Abdel
Malik in the 2nd half, the Pharaohs looked much more
dangerous and were able to extend the lead to four goals.
Just Four vs Djibouti!
Before the match, Egypt was expected to
win by a large margin of goals. However, the Oharaohs
managed only to score a single goal after a disppointing
performance in the first half. In the 2nd half, Shehata
made some tactical changes to correct the first half
mistakes and the Egyptians managed to score three more
goals.
Egypt started with four at the back, Hany
Said played alongside Gomaa at the heart of defense
while Mohammade and Shedid Qinawy played as full backs.
In the middle, Ahmed Hassan, Hosny and Shawky played
in the heart of midfield. Ahmed Eid played more like
a support man while Abo Treka and Meteb playing in attack.
Lack of a target man type striker hurt
the national team as Abo treka is a support man more
than a striker. In addition to this, the two full backs,
Mohamadi and Shedid Qinawy didn't perform well. Their
peneration from wings was subpar and the crossing was
poor. This was combined with the ultra defensive tactics
of Djibouti. For all these reasons, Egypt managed to
score a single goal which came via Meteb who headed
home from a corner kick which was swung into the box
by Abo Treka.
In the 2nd half, Shehata made tactical
changes as he took off the underperforming Eid Abdel
Malik for a true striker, Abdel Ghany. Although the
latter has no international experience, he looked hungry
to score and Shehata should have started with him alongside
Meteb from the start.
