In the 2nd half, the Pharaohs had the chance to extend the lead even further but they weren't lucky with the final touch.

Egypt achieved a comfortable 2-0 win over Benin to end the first round with a perfect nine points out of three matches. The Pharaohs were more impressive in this match than against Mozambique despite playing with many new faces.

Shehata decided to rest some key players as expected. Gomaa and Moawad took complete rest as Moatasem Salam and Abdel Shafi replaced them in the starting eleven. Hany Said was rested as well to allow him to recover from injury.

In midfield, Muhammadi replaced Fathi who was rested as well while Hassan played the full match to become Egypt's most capped player in history with 169 international caps. Hosny Abd Rabo was allowed to start as well with Ghaly who recovered from flu to start the game.

In attack, Raouf played instead of Zidan while Meteb played the full match.

Muhammadi amazing effort from 40 yards out put the Pharaohs in led early on. The goal destroyed Benin's confidence and the Egyptian squad dominated the game till the end.

Egypt created many chances especially from the right flank but the conversion was poor. The Pharaohs could have won by 5-6 goals but they couldn't find the lethal final touch in most of occasions.

In the 2nd half, Egyptians continued domination while Benin had a few dangerous attempts. Shehata brought Zidan, Gedo and Abdel Wahed El Sayed on to give most of the players a chance to show what they can do.
