Thank you Shehata. He once again proved critics wrong with a great comeback against Nigeria. Shehata's management of the game was excellent and led to this precious win over the Pharaohs biggest rivals in group C.

Thank you Shehata:

No other Egyptian coach achieved such results over the strongest teams of Africa. He removed any doubts about his managerial abilities today as he managed to lead the Pharaohs to a heroic comeback against the strongest rivals for Egypt in the group.

Shehata's management of the second half in particular was almost perfect. He corrected first half mistakes and brought balance to the team. He also allowed the team to regain control of the midfield by taking off both of the underperforming players Ghaly and Abd Rabo. Add to this the brave introduction of Gedo who made his ACN debut and scored a goal.

After defeating Cameroon and Ivory Coast by four goals in 2008, Shehata managed to lead Egypt to another massive victory over one of greatest African teams, Nigeria.

Amazing comeback:

Obasi's thunderous drive didn't intimidate the Pharaohs. They proved their ability to come back against a strong and cohesive team and the end result could have been four or five if the Meteb and Gedo managed to score from their clear cut chances in the 2nd half.

Obasi managed to beat Fathallah who couldn't close him down early enough and allowed him to shoot a thunderous drive into the far angle leaving Hadary with no chance to save it.

The Pharaohs had a chance to score before Nigeria's goal through Zidan but his shot was turned behind for a corner.

After the Nigerian goal, Zidan had another chance to score from a low shot that went wide. Rather than this, the Egyptian team couldn't create enough chances as Nigerians had better control of midfield at this time.

Then came the key moment of the game to Egypt when Meteb received a glorious through pass by Ahmed Hassan, he accelerated behind the defense and managed to round the goalkeeper and score to make the score level.

Ironically, the result could have been 2-0 for Nigeria if they managed to score from a shot from the edge of the box but the Egyptians replied with this fast counter and equalized.

In the 2nd half, Nigeria started with pressure and looked dangerous in patches. However, Shehata was quick to make a couple of much needed substitutions. He brought on Muhammadi for Ghaly who was anonymous most of the time. With this tactical change, Fathy replaced Ghaly in midfield while Muhammadi played wide as a right winger. Such change increased the Pharaohs domination on midfield and added more effectiveness to attack as well thanks to the introduction of the more attacking minded Muhammadi in the right flank.

In the 54th minute, the Pharaohs managed to score the 2nd goal which came through a great build up from midfield which ended by a pass to Zidan who used his tricks to await for the incoming Hassan who fired a shot which took a deflection off Taiwo and went into the top corner to make the score 2-1.

Minutes later, Meteb received another great through ball from Hassan, he was onside and had only the goalkeeper to beat but he blasted the ball over the bar to squander a real chance.

Mohamed Zidan, on the other side, had a chance to score from a freekick but the Nigerian keeper Eniyama managed to save it at full stretch.

Shehata was brave enough to pull off the player of the tournament in 2008 Abd Rabo and bring Gedo on which was another substitution that paid off as Gedo managed to score three minutes before the final whistle from low shot.

It took Gedo about 15 minutes to get into the game but once get started to play with confidence, he scored from a low shot form the edge of the box to give the Pharaohs a 3-1 lead.

The Pharaohs showed total domination in the last minutes while Nigerians started to tire. The Nigeria coach also contributed to the poor display of Nigeria in the 2nd half as he took off their best midfielder Mikkelto introduce Kanu.

In the final minutes of the game, Gedo hit the post from narrow angle and another chance went begging.

In the end, the Pharaohs enjoyed a great come back against the strongest rival in the group and made a huge step to qualify to quarter finals.
