Mali taught Angola a lesson in determination and fighting
spirit as they came back from being 4-0 behind to level
the score in less than 20 minutes.
The Cup of Nations kicked off in extremely
exciting fashion. When Angolan fans were about to celebrate
a massive 4-0 win over the strong Mali squad. However,
the guests started to fight back and grab a goal after
the other till they ended the game in a 4-4 draw.
Manuel Jose: Hero or Hoax?
The ex-Al-Ahly manager and current manager
of Angola have built a strong and cohesive squad which
enjoyed dominance over Mali. However, his substitutions
cost Angola an easy victory as he took off his best
performers Flavio and Gilberto leading to total domination
from Mali.
Ex Al-Ahly top scorer Flavio Amado put
the home side in the lead by two goals thanks to his
trade mark heading skills. He scored from a diving header
in the 36th minute and added the second from another
powerful header in the 42nd minute.

In the second half, Angola managed to score two more goals from
penalty kicks. The first was converted by Al-Ahly left back
Gilberto while the second was scored by Manucho.
The 79th minute marked the start of comeback
campaign of Mali as Keita grabbed a goal that everyone considered
as a consolation one.
However, Kanoute scored another from a great
header while Keita clawed another in the 90th minute.
In stoppage time, Yatabare followed on a parried
shot by the Angolan keeper Carlos and slotted the ball home
to send the home crowd in disbelief that they let they massive
lead slip.
