Another 90 minutes Separating Pharaohs from Glory

Date: 15-11-2009

The Pharaohs chances of reaching World Cup finals in South Africa increased dramatically after forcing Algeria to play a play off match in Sudan. Gomaa will be back to strengthen the Egyptian defensive line while Abd Rabo is expected to start in midfield. On the other hand, Algeria will be missing their goalkeeper Gawawi and the midfielder Lamoushe. In addition, their defensive line is not free from injuries.

After a terrible start, World Cup qualification chances almost vanished. Everyone realized that winning four matches in a row is a wild dream. But the Pharaohs managed to show their resilience and determination in these four matches and managed to bring their chances to 50%.

On paper, Egypt's chances now are 50% but in reality, the percentage is higher due to many factors.

Firstly, the Pharaohs got a huge morale boost following their last gasp victory on Saturday. Secondly, the Egyptian players are fully fit to play on Wednesday while on the other side, Algerians will be missing their goalkeeper Gawawy, and their midfielder Lamoushe due to suspension. In addition to this, Algeria's striker Saifi came out injured and might not be fit to play. In defense, Rafik Halliche came out injured and might not play as well.

In addition to this, playing in Sudan will give the Egyptians better support as most of Sudanese people will support their Egyptian neighbors. Egyptians also will find it easier to travel to Sudan to attend the game and the many Egyptians living and working there will attend the match from the stadium too.
