Young
Pharaohs got more clinical in the second half and managed
to convert their ball possession into goals. After a
1-1 draw in the first half, The Young Egyptians managed
to score three times through Arafat (two goals) and
the star man Mohamed Talaat who went off injured a few
minutes before the final whistle.

After the end of the opening Ceremony
of Fifa U-20 World Cup, the Egyptian U-20 team faced
its Trinidad and Tobago counterpart in the opening match
of the tournament.
The game took place at Borg El Arab stadium
in front of 80 thousand supporters from Egypt led by
the Egyptian president Hosny Mubarak.
The Egyptian youngsters needed just a
few minutes to dominate the game. In the opening minutes,
Trinidad and Tobago had a threat from a freekick which
was denied by the Egyptian keeper Lotfy Rather than
that, the Egyptians dominated the game but they lacked
the final touch.
It was obvious that the team has bags
of talent but such talent was wasted due to the lack
of cooperation between the players.
Afroto and Arafat tried shooting from
anywhere while the star man Mohamed Talaat wasted a
few chances.
It took the Egyptian team 30 minutes to
break the deadlock against hopeless Trinidad and Tobago
team. The goal came from pure genius individual effort
by Afroto who scored in Lionel Messi's fashion by taking
the ball past a few players before slotting it home.
Just a couple of minutes after the goal,
Mohamed Talaat powered a header at goal but it was denied
by the guests goalkeeper.
In the 36th minute, Trinidad and Tobago
managed to score the equalizer after taking advantage
of the Egyptian sloppy defending.
After the equalizer, the Egyptian team
confidence started to drop and the score remained 1-1
till hal time.
With the start of the second half, Trinidad
and Tobago's keeper made a great reflex save to deny
a header from the Egyptian team. Egypt won a corner
kick and the ball bounced back to Arafat at the edge
of the box, the latter sent a shot into the crossbar
but it rattled the crossbar and bounced back to hit
the back of a Trinidad defender and go in.
