Ajax' coach Ronald Koeman commented on his teams' performance in their last game in the Dutch Cup against Roda. The Dutch coach criticized his players in general and compared between his two strikers, Mido and Zlatan.

Just few days before Ajax' crucial league encounter against Feyenoord Rotterdam, the Dutch coach Ronald Koeman commented on his players' performance in the last game against Roda in the Amstel Cup.

It was clear that Koeman wasn't happy with the performance shown by his players after their edgy 1-0 win over the weaker side, Roda.

Koeman criticized his players by comparing them to Ajax youngsters:

"Actually, this was Young Ajax playing in the Arena tonight"

The Dutch coach also commented on Zlatan's injury during the game by saying:

"We will have to wait and see, we already have more than enough injured players".

Koeman was also not happy with his attack in the 2nd half:

"We did not create any danger after half-time. We had to be aware toward the end. Roda got some chances, like the one with Anastasiou. You can see it coming. Defensively, I thought we did well, but in the second half I was not so happy with our offence.''

About Mido, Koeman commented negatively on the Egyptian's performance by saying:

"If you see this match, there is a big difference between Zlatan and Mido. That is why Zlatan starts and Mido doesn't. I hope Mido can live with that and will do his utmost to go through the development that Zlatan went through. Now he is still too opportunistic."

The incident (From Egyptianplayers.com's point of view):

In the last game against Roda, EP reported that Mido lacked support from midfield and from the wingers in particular. As a result, the Egyptian had to go back and get the ball himself (a thing that Mido can't do very well as Zlatan do while the Egyptian is far better in the penalty area).

During the game, Mido desperately tried a shot from a very long range while he had the chance to pass the ball to Van der Meyde. After that shot, Koeman kept shouting to Mido from the subs bench.

After the game, Koeman criticized the Egyptian as he tried to shoot while he had the time to pass, and the coach made a comparison between Mido and Zlatan as the latter keeps the ball better and plays more for the team. As a result, Koeman wanted Mido to make improvements in his style of play and to play more for the team so he can be the main striker again.

EP comment:

It is clear that Mido is a better goal-getter than Zlatan. However, the Swedish international is better in skills, and movement than the Egyptian. A combination between both players didn't work for the coach so far so he will have to choose only one to be starter. The chosen one in the mean time is Zlatan who meets the requirements of the striker from Koeman's point of view. However, the Dutch coach should not criticize a player and praises the other in the public like what Koeman did.
