Mido talked with Ronald Koeman and Leo Beenhakker (technical director) this morning, and he apologized for what he said.

Koeman Vs Mido

The Full story:

Koeman wasn't impressed by Mido's performance in the last Dutch league game against Groningen , and replaced Mido after 32 minutes with Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Mido wasn't impressed by Koeman's decision but he admitted that he was injured and tired.

During the last training of Ajax, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the attacking midfielder Jari Litmanen performed very well (Litmanen scored twice while Zlatan scored 6 times).

Based on this exceptional performance from both players, Ajax' coach Ronald Koeman decided to start with Litmanen as attacking midfielder (he will play in the same position of the injured Van der Vaart as EP reported before while announced that Zlatan will start instead of Mido in the striker's position.

As a consequence, Mido was unhappy with Koeman's decision and declared in an interview with AT5 (A regional Dutch TV channel which can only be viewed in Amsterdam) that he wants to leave Ajax and seek his fortune in England or Italy when the English and Italian clubs be allowed to buy players again with the start of the next year.

On 14-9-2002, Ajax' coach Ronald Koeman decided to drop Mido from the Ajax' selection for Dutch league encounter against Zwolle. The decision made after Mido's announcement on Dutch TV regional channel AT5.

The game ended 2-0 for Ajax with both Richard Witschge and Christian Chivu scoring the 2 goals. It is worth mentioning that Zlatan Ibrahimovic couldn't score any goals and even wasted some real chances.

On 15-9-2002, In a meeting with Ajax' technical director Leo Beenhakker and coach Ronald Koeman Mido apologized for the things he said on Amsterdam TV Channel AT5.

Leo Beenhakker appeared on TV, saying: "Well, fair enough. He was disappointed and angry. Let's say it's a matter of juvenile rashness. Let's not forget he's only nineteen years old. Let's not exaggerate this case."

Mido was handed a fine and he is suspended for the game against Olympique Lyon, on Tuesday. He will join the group again on Wednesday morning, after which it's all forgiven and forgotten. Mido understood that the club had to do something and has accepted his punishment. He also apologized on the training pitch, in front of the entire team.
