Full Match for Hany but 3rd Loss of Season

Date: 22-9-2004
Wrote: EP's reporter Islam Issa

Hany Said's Mons lost disappointingly at their home to Charleroi.

Another full match for Hany...

Once again, the Egyptian kept his place in the starting line-up, and played the full game. Said played in the midfield as he has done for the Belgian club since signing. In March this year, Hany had told EP that he wanted a club that would use him in the middle, rather than in defense, "I learnt that position completely and I prefer it now."

The game started with attacks from both teams, but nothing was gained from them. Most notably for Mons was when forward Gousse hit a shot but it went into the keeper's hands. The half ended goal-less with both teams unable to provide anything special to go into the lead.

At the beginning of the second period, Hany's team-mate Behi struck another effort, but the keeper found it in his hands yet again.

Mons midfielder Datti also came close to breaking the dead-lock, but his shot was saved finely by the opposing goalkeeper.

Two substitutes on 57 minutes made Charleroi up for the game again. Attractive football begun. In the 72nd minute, on of the subs, Abdelmajid Oulmers did well alone, managing scored what turned out to be the winning goal.

With minutes left the Mons manager decided to sacrifice a defender for a striker, but it was not to be. The game was won by Charleroi who continue their good away form. The club have won three out of their three away matches like this.

A poor result for Mons who managed to draw this game 2-2 last time they met. The Mons midfield did not have a bad game, especially Datti, who was on good form alongside Hany Said.

Mons are now in 15th place out of 18 (two teams relegate in Belgium), with 5 points from 6 matches. They will have an important game in CS Brugges' stadium next weekend, which will be a big morale booster should it be won.
