Hany a new viola player

Date: 16-7-2003
Wrote: EP's editor Omar Sherin

The Egyptian anchorman Hany said agreed on a deal to join the glorious viola that the world knew and loved with the name Fiorentina. The deal is finalized between the player and his new club with only some minor details between Bari and Fiorentina still debated. Fiorentina announced that they can even settle for a loan plus owning 50% of the player contract. This leaves Bari with no option but to let him join the viola next season.

The football director at Fiorentina announced: "we agreed personal terms with Hany Said and few lines has to be written with Bari, he will join us next season this is sure. On what bases is still to be discussed." Mr. Galli also added: "he will strengthen our midfield for sure".

Fiorentina just 3 years were among the top clubs and few years ago managed to beat Arsenal at Highbury in the Champions League, but financial crisis stormed the Artemio Franchi stadium and left it in ruin leaving the Italian Football Federation with nothing but sending it all the way down to serie C2 which is the lowest professional level in Italy plus changing the historical name of FC Fiorentina forever and placing a new name for the club.

But the viola faithful managed to gather funds, bought all the club season tickets and setting an example they did show up for each game in numbers around 20,000 spectators while the C2 average is just 500 spectators leaving the players no chance but to storm their way back to top flight and now the club is back to serie C with the prospect of being in top flight in just 2 years, if they promoted from serie C then B back to back.

If Hany joined the club he will be a regular as most renowned players left the side after the recent slump leaving only the flamboyant winger and former Juventus hero Di Livio (35) as "El Capitano" of the Viola. This can be seen as a good opportunity for Hany to play regularly with a club very hungry to succeed and to regain the glory of the old days. Fans are eager to win and are pushing the players only to the top. His current club AS Bari though in a better category "serie B" but the future is dim for that club and Hany rarely sees any action.

Hany already made his wise choice and will join a very prestigious club that is strengthened by sympathy from all over Italy to be once again among the big 7 where the viola belongs.
