Hany Said season summary:

Hany Said was one of the most unfortunate players this season even from day one. Half way through the season Hany was handed a lifeline when he got a call from Fascetti who is like his soul father as he is for many top players including Juventus' Zambrotta and Roma’s Cassano. The call was a player exchange offer to join the Como ranks, hopefully helping his former coach to escape relegation. But the deal fell through as Bari's administration didn't agree on the other player returning.

This media frenzy helped Hany in catching the eyes of another Serie B side, but with a much better league position, and that outfit was Messina. Terms were agreed and he became their property on loan until the end of the season, starting from January 2003. The Egyptian's fortunes didn't change much. He became a regular face on the bench and could only come on with ten minutes to go in most encounters. Hany Said arrived back in Bari last week. Messina said that they are not thinking of buying the defensive-midfielder or renewing his loan.

On the other hand, Said's father-son relationship with Fascetti (Como's manager) won't get him anywhere better, as Como could only achieve relegation after finishing 17th in Italy' top division, with a record number of conceded goals. Despite this, the news wasn't all that bad this season for the unsettled young Egyptian. Reports hinted that Serie A side Chievo are once again thinking about the player. This comes after they expressed their desire in a player of Hany's position, and they lack funds to sign any big names.

There are without a doubt more negative points than positive, unless Hany Said talks seriously to his agent and finds a better move it may be the beginning of the end of a European career which has plenty of potential.

Bari's season summary:

After relegation to Serie B, Hany's struggling side AS Bari never found the form needed to bring them back to the top flight in Italy. The management decided to bring along a new blood and certainly a new coach and that was Italian legend and World Cup 1982 holder Tardelli, However, he failed again as a coach and never came close to the promotion contenders zone. Bari finished 11th, but spent a short time in the relegation zone mid-way through the season.

Messina's season summary:

Messina finished in a mid-table position. Regarding their latest news EP's sources in Italy stated that Messina sacked their coach and are currently negotiating with Scogilo (former Tunisia and Genoa coach). If the tactician joined the southern club then a whole new bunch of Tunisians are sure on their way to Italy. A 14th place finish was nothing more than average, and Messina won't get promoted at this rate.

Next season expectations:

Both Bari and Messina fans have been let down. Another season in Serie B is ahead of us, and it may well be the same for Hany Said. Interest has been shown by some clubs, but it may be a halt in playing for the Egyptian. EP predicts that he will not get first team football by the start of next season. Hani may well have to consider his options and settle to the bench, after which he can prove himself.
