Hany Ramzy's FC Kaiserslautern lost their first game
of the season on home turf, already unable to prove
those who predicted a tough season wrong.

The Egyptian veteran Hany Ramzy was not completely
ready from his serious injury, and so he couldn't feature
despite being back to training. Thus, Ramzy was not
selected in the match squad. He may return fully in
a few weeks, after the club agreed on renewing his contract.
Kaiserslautern lost at home to Nurnberg 1-3 in the first
match of the new Bundesliga.
Losing their star player, Klose, and without Lockvenc,
Kaiser struggled. Up-front was the new signing Karsten
Jancker. Cameroon defender Tchato was in the back line,
alongside Nurmela, Hertzsch and Wenzel. After not signing
Babbel, Zandi was the substitute defender, so there
are five main defenders that Ramzy will compete against
for the defense job he plays in Germany.
The away club managed to take the lead after Banovic
scored with just over 10 minutes on the clock.
Nerlinger and Jancker worked well and almost equalised,
when the former hit a shot from twenty metres out and
it went just wide. This was near the end of the half
that finished 0-1.
After more attempts, FCK equalised in the 58th minute
after the opposing keeper couldn't keep Zandi's strike
out.
A counter attack for Nurnberg meant a goal just minutes
later. An attack from the left was passed into the centre,
and Vittek tucked the ball in from short distance.
With just minutes left, the match was settled with a
header by Muller, and Kaiser therefore suffered the
first defeat of the season.
Once again Kaiserslautern look already in trouble, as
they have a weaker side that last year.
Will they just about survive the relegation zone as
they did in the past two seasons?
