Egypt's
captain Hany Ramzy will be back very soon to action
after a very long period of inactivity due to his knee
injury.

Hany will be back to lead Egypt in WC qualifiers
EP reported
a month ago that Egypt's veteran defender Hany Ramzy
will be back to action soon. This has been confirmed
by the player himself who spoke to Fifaworldcup website
and confirmed that he is on his way to return to the
Green pitch very soon.
The player confirmed that his knee is currently in
good shape and he will start training soon. He also
was confident about his return to official games in
the new season:
"I'm very happy at the moment, the knee's in good
shape, and, I've set my sights on the new campaign,
and I'm hoping to take part in close season training."
"My first priority is just to get playing again
after the injury."
"I desperately want to play again, taking part
in the 2006 World Cup in Germany with Egypt would be
a dream come true." Said the 35 year old Egyptian.
Regarding his stay in Germany and the country preparations
to host the WC 2006, Ramzy commented by saying:
"I've always felt settled here in Germany, I
find the high level of discipline in the game here remarkable
and an example to all."
"In terms of the stadiums it'll be pretty much
ideal," the player comments, "just looking
at what's already been done and what's still to come,
I reckon the facilities will be optimal in this respect."
Speaking about Egypt's chances to qualify from their
tough group in the WC 2006, Ramzy said:
"It's a tough group but I reckon we're in with
a good chance," the player comments, "naturally,
Cameroon are our biggest rivals, although I rate Côte
d'Ivoire very highly. I think the other sides are best
described as outsiders."
Ramzy also commented on the points of strength and weakness
in the team by saying:
"One of our most important players is striker
Hossam 'Mido' Ahmed of Olympique Marseille, despite
the fact he's only 21,"
"We're much weaker at the back, and we're missing
the classic number ten, a playmaker,"
Regarding Egypt's anti-climax performance in the previous
Cup of Nations in Tunisia, Ramzy made some comments:
"We really didn't play well, "We had a lot
of young players in the squad, but you never perform
in a big tournament without experience as well."
When asked about the future of the Egyptian team with
Marco Tardelli at the helm, Ramzy commented:
"We have a new coach now, he's trying to create
a blend of youth and experience to take us to 2006 in
Germany. We have some fantastic prospects in the U-21
side,"
The Egyptian veteran admitted that he didn't meet with
Tardelli yet but he appreciated that the new boss remembered
him:
"although he got in touch via the association
a few weeks ago and asked how it was going with my injury."
EP's comment: These can be described as the
best news on Hany Ramzy since his injury in last August.
The leader of Egypt has come back to add the much needed
strength and maturity to Egypt's defense.
EP congratulates Ramzy for his comeback and promises
to interview him very soon..
