Dr.
Hans-Werner Schmalenbach's diagnosis of Hany Ramzy's
injury in Saturday's Bundesliga opener, was a return
of Hany's cruciate ligament injury he had suffered towards
the end of last season.

The Egyptian had twisted his leg as he landed awkwardly
after attempted to head the ball in Kaiserslautern's
1-0 loss at home
to 1860 Munchen. He left the field due to this injury
41 minutes into the game. His exact injury had been
still unknown until the later diagnosis. This particular
injury is known to be a tough one for footballers, and
may keep Ramzy out of action for several months. The
club's official web site also states that the player
will undergo surgery on his knee.
This was Ramzy's first official match with Kaiserslautern
since injuring the same right knee in April. He had
performed very well in the preseason phase with his
team, suggesting a decent season and return ahead of
him. This news comes as a blow to both Egyptians and
to the fans of the Red Devils, who may miss him for
a significant part of the Bundesliga campaign. Their
next few matches are expected to be tough after the
suspension of Bill Tchato, as well as the loss of Hany
Ramzy.
EP wishes Hany Ramzy a speedy recovery.
