Ramzy to Betze magazine: "Things will improve again"

Date: 19-6-2003.
Wrote: EP's reporter Islam Issa

The experienced Egyptian Hany Ramzy spoke to the big German magazine 'Betze' after returning to training in the last few days following his knee injury. In the interview, the Egypt captain showed his optimism and confidence once again. EP presents a translation of the interview.

Magazine: Hany Ramzy, how do you feel after starting training for a few days again, especially after having a big break?

Ramzy: Well as a whole it is ok. The beginning of training was a little hard, it gave muscular strain after approximately eight weeks, in which I could not actually move at all.

Magazine: What does your planned programme consist of?

Ramzy: Everything is discussed with the coach Erik Gerets. I must train first twice per day. It is also intended that I work far less than other members of the squad. Perhaps I can do this for approximately two weeks, in order to get match-practice with the team soon, which is very
important. I then hope that I can participate this year and still in two or three more seasons.

Magazine: A few weeks ago your situation looked still completely different, much worse. Were you surprised a little at the fact that you can train already again?

Ramzy: Of course, because I thought I would have an even longer break, and I thought I would only be able to begin training again next February. When I was in a sanatorium in Davos in Switzerland, I found myself already beginning a few runs. Afterwards, there were many checks, but everything was satisfying. And that gave me good confidence and a new self-assurance.

Magazine: How have you felt at these tense times?

Ramzy: It is normal to be very concerned, but a completely new situation has finally arrived for me. Fourtunately, things will improve again...

EP comment:

It is a good site to see Ramzy confident again. He is currently desired in Egypt, Qatar and Saudi Arabia but seems like he wants to continue at Kaiserslautern. EP will keep you updated on Hany Ramzy, as he bravely returns from injury...
