DFB Pokal Final: Bayern Munich Vs Kaiserslautern (3-1)

Date: 1-6-2003.

In a rather one sided game, Hany Ramzy's Kaiserslautern lost to Bayern Munich in the German cup final by three goals to one. It is worth noting that the Egyptian veteran defender missed the game because of his knee injury.

Klose scored but it was already over for the Red Devils

Bayern Munich shocked Kaiserslautern with an early goal only after three minutes from the kick off. The game came through a freekick, it was delivered high into the area and met with a header by Michael Ballack who headed it home with ease.

Seven minutes later, Ballack doubled the lead for Bayern Munich. This time the goal came through a penalty kick after a foul inside the penalty area.

In the 2nd half, particularly in the 50th minute, Claudio Pizarro made it 3-0! He got the ball outside the area, dribbled past Kaiser's defender Tchato and chipped it over the goalkeeper brilliantly into the back of the net.

In the 78th minute, Kaiserslautern's Bulgarian international Marian Hristov got the Red card after a tackle from behind on Brazilian forward Elber and the Red Devils had to resume the game with only ten men.

Despite being one man down, Kaiserslautern managed to score their only goal through Miroslav Klose in the 80th minute, but the goal wasn't more than a consolation goal.

In the 90th minute, the match referee blew the final whistle and Bayern were crowned as the DFB Pokal champions for the season 2002-2003.
