Kaiser won, Ramzy injured

Date: 13-4-2003.
Wrote: EP's reporter Islam Issa.

Kaiserslautern continued impressing in the German Bundesliga and jumped to the 10th spot of the table as they won today against Hansa Rostock. Just after the hour mark though Hany Ramzy suffered an injury in his knee and was taken off.

The Match:

Ramzy started in the centre of defence alongside Lembi. His previous match was a dramatic thriller in which he scored in both ends in the final ten minutes.

Six minutes into the game Lockvenc had a chance but his curling shot went wide. yasser Radwan and Mohammed Emara's former club Hansa Rostock attacked hard, coming very close to a goal after twenty-two minutes.

Kaiserslautern started the second half in an attacking manner. Basler fed the ball forward to Lockvenc who struck, but his shot was stopped well.

Sixty-six minutes into the game, Ramzy fell to the ground after a hard clash with Bachirou Salou. After the incident Ramzy collapsed on the floor and couldn't move at all! The manager was forced to take the Egyptian off for Koch.

After seventy minutes Dominguez scored for Kaiserslautern. The all important decider came after a good move between Timm and Lockvenc. The ball was blasted home by Dominguez from a long way out! Final score 1-0.

Kaiserslautern once again earned three points. They are now in ninth place. With With six matches to go they are nine points away from a European place, but only five away from relegation. Fans still believe that there has been a twist in the tale, as Kaiser were in the relegation zone for a long time near the beginning of the season. A safe mid-table position is now expected from the side.

Ramzy's Injury:

Meanwhile, Ramzy's injury was very serious. It is disappointing to see it come during this important stage of the campaign.

The injury is said to be torn ligaments in Ramzy's right knee! A check on it is due as soon as possible. Physios stated that Ramzy will not have an operation though.

EP wishes him a speedy recovery, and will keep you updated on the issue...
