Ramzy's Kaiser win again

Date: 16-3-2003.
Wrote: EP's reporter Islam Issa

Hany Ramzy played a full game as his team fought hard in an away clash against Energie Cottbus. The game ended in a 3-1 victory to Kaiserslautern who needed the victory to continue avoiding relegation.

Kaiser had a lot to celebrate about...

After a lively start, Cottbus got a very good opportunity but the keeper stopped it. After half an hour of play Cottbus got another chance from 20 yards out. Kaiser survived and had their first real in chance in the 39th minute. Dominguez ran very well and passed into the stride of Klose who netted from nine yards out. The lead did not last for long. Cottbus equalized four minutes later after a corner was tapped in from close range. Half time: Energie Cottbus 1-1 Kaiserslautern.

Early in the second half Kaiser's keeper banged into an attacker, and an open goal was present, but the referee whistled in favor of Kaiserslautern. Both teams started to attack seriously.

In the 66th minute, Hristov came on as substitute after his lengthy injury. Less than five minutes after coming on he scored! He slotted the ball in with his head to make it 2-1 to Kaiserslautern!

Cottbus attacked, in the 84th minute they just missed the target! The defending Kaiser used the counter-attack they got in stoppage time. Basler started the attack, and Lockvenc finished coolly.

Final score: Energie Cottbus 1-3 Kaiserslautern

It is also important to note that Leverkusen lost two points as they drew at home to Wolfsburg. They missed a penalty before Ramelow got their only goal. Wolfsburg equalized. This is good news as Kaiser are competing with Leverkusen. The current form suggests that Bayer Leverkusen will be relegated and Kaiser will survive. Only time will tell...

EP wishes Ramzy and his club the best and hopes that Kaiserslautern keep the good recent form and survive relegation. It is worth mentioning that EP will have full coverage on the German DFB Pokal Final between Kaiser and Bayern Munich in a few weeks.
