Ramzy to be sold?

Date: 28-12-2002.
Wrote: EP's reporter Islam Issa

Hany Ramzy may well be leaving Kaiserslautern after the club announced that they are in debt a few weeks ago. Kaiserslautan owe taxes worth around £13 million sterling. They have said that their top players may be leaving soon.

The hot favourite to leave is World Cup star Miroslav Klose who has been wanted in Europe. Manchester City are reported to have offered £6 million sterling for him.

Others like Lockvenc and Timm may also be leaving. Hany Ramzy is also among the list. The experienced player if sold can help Kaiser pay off at least a fraction of their debts.

Kaiserslautern as a whole are on a down-hill ride. They are in the relegation zone, and if the situation does not improve, they could be finding themselves relegated further like Fiorentina because of the financial status.

It is not known whether any clubs have shown interest in the Egyptian veteran, although earlier in the year some sides were interested. Planetfootball.com once reported that Fulham were interested in the player.

It is not clear what the future holds for Ramzy in his last few years. For now, he must help his team go up in the league standings, and bring back the old years of glory.
