Basler unhappy with Ramzy and his teammates:
Kaiserslautern midfielder Mario Basler
accused his teammates of not trying as their title challenge
faltered following Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Hansa Rostock.
"If we play like this, we will not become German
champions," he said.
"If you lose a game like this, without even picking
up at least a point, you cannot be surprised when the
title race is going on without you."
Basler singled out Egypt defender Hany Ramzy, recently
restored to the side after he was sacked following a
sexual harassment case went against him, for criticism.
Ramzy was sent off after just half an hour for picking
up two yellow cards. "This is something that should
not happen to an experienced player like him,"
Basler added.
Brehme supported Ramzy and defended him:
Kaiserslautern coach Andy Brehme was less dramatic.
He said: "Usually, Hany is a fair and clever player.
It seems that he can't get the [harassment] affair out
of his mind."
Negative attitude from Rostock fans towards Ramzy:
Rostock fans whistled at the Egyptian every time he
touched the ball, and some fans displayed a banner which
read: 'Ramzy, go to jail!'
Egyptianplayers.com comments:
EP wish Ramzy to pass this period without negative
effect on his self confidence. As it seemed that everybody
is getting harsh on him starting from German media,
rival clubs supporters, referees and even some of his
teammates.
