Sabry warms-up few minutes before the game

First half:

Sabry ready to kick off

The game started with early pressure from the home team (Benfica), but Maritimo were able to stand the pressure and spoil Benfica's attacks.

Sabry played freely behind the attackers. However, he moved frequently into the right flank and used his ultimate weapon (dribbling) to penetrate Benfica's defense.

Sabry used his skill to dribble past two defenders, but he was fouled in the end

The match was even in the first 30 minutes. Sabry did exceptionally well with his superb vision and his magical skills which enabled him to win a foul, throw-in or corner after every ball he touched.

Sabry demands the ball after another foul on him

But after the 30th min. Benfica had most of possession and started to generate dangerous chances. In the 37th min. the Slovenian star Zahovic scored their first goal when he was onside and one-on-one with the keeper, he blasted a powerful low shot that hit the keeper and went into the ball of the net.

After Benfica's goal, they gained more confidence, however, the chances remained slim for both sides. But finally in the 43rd min. Benfica added their 2nd goal after their no. 30, Tiago received a through pass into the area and he had no difficulty making it 2-0.

Good first half for Sabry but Benfica were too good to be beaten by Maritimo

Bottom line: Sabry played well in the first half, but Maritimo has no stars of the caliber of Benfica's ones. The Egyptian moved well, but he lacked support.

Second half:

Sabry was replaced in the start of the 2nd half.

Maritimo started positively in the 2nd half. On the other side, Benfica played with the lowest gear after they got the job done in the first half.

In the first 15 minutes of the 2nd half, Maritimo players barely touched the ball as they were always under pressure and couldn't pass the ball freely.

In the 80th min. he referee awarded Benfica a penalty kick, from which Simao scored the 3rd.

Full time: Benfica 3-0 Maritimo
