Hassan suffered rib injury and had to
leave the pitch before half time
Ahmed Hassan's Anderlecht managed to qualify
to the Belgian cup final after a 1-1 draw with Germinal
Beerschot in the 2nd leg match.
Hassan used to come on as sub in the past
few matches but the coach Ariel Jacobs decided to give
the Egyptian a chance to start this time. However, Hassan
was unlucky to suffer a bruised ribs injury and to leave
the field before half time.
The extent of Hassan's injury is not yet
known. However a scan should reveal more. A bruised
rib will take about a week or two to heal.
It should be noted that Anderlecht went
behind by a goal in the first half after a fatal mistake
from the goalkeeper who gave away possession to Colman
who sent a chip over the goalkeeper to make the score
1-0 in the 45th minute.
In the 2nd half, particularly in the 53rd minute,
Vlcek equalized for Anderlecht when he sent the ball home
from close range after a fine cross from the left wing.
With a 1-0 win for the Mauves in the first leg,
Anderlecht advanced to the final with a 2-1 aggregate win.
EP wishes Hassan a speedy recovery and to be
able to feature in the cup final.
