Egyptian star Ahmed Hassan is one of the candidates for the Ebony Shoe award for the 2nd year in a row. The Egyptian didn't win the award last season but the winner was his teammate striker Mohamed Tchite.

This season, Tchite left the team and joined Racing Santander. However, another player from Anderlecht was named amongst the candidates together with Hassan. The player is Moroccan attacking midfielder Mbarek Boussouffa.

It should be noted that the award is given each year for the best African player in the Belgian league for the current season.

It should also be mentioned that Hassan came on as a sub help ten men Anderlecht to defeat Westerlo by two goals to nil.

Anderlecht had to play with ten men starting from the 27th minute after the sending off of De Man who received two yellow cards.

Hassan made a positive impact and could have scored in the game as well but his teammate Legaar decided to shoot from narrow angle instead of passing the ball to Hassan who was in a better position in front of goal.
