Egyptian captain Ahmed Hassan agreed terms with Al-Ahly.
The Egyptian decided to return to his home country after
the end of the current season. Anderlecht are still
hopeful to convince the Egyptian to stay for another
season though.
Egyptian veteran Ahmed Hassan agreed terms
with Egyptian champions Al-Ahly. The Egyptian signed
all the required papers but the transfer is now complete.
It will go through at end of season though.
Hassan always wanted to return to him
home country afterspending most of his career in Turkey
and Belgium.
Anderlecht chairman still hopeful:
The Mauves chairman Herman Van Holsbeeck
says that he will taketo Hassan about renewing his contract
after his retrn from Egypt.
Herman Van Holsbeeck believes that all
what Hassan wants is more money and said to "Het
Laatste Nieuws" (The latest news program on Belgian
TV):
"This week, Hassan will be playing
with Egypt against Argentina, but next week I want to
talk to him",
"He said that it's a verbal agreement.
I know Ahmed a little bit. If a team promises him more
money, he'll start to doubt."
Its not about money this time:
Van Holsbeeck is wrong this time as Hassan knows
that he will not get the same money from his transfer to Al-Ahly
but he still wants return to Egypt.
Hassan's interpreter Abdel Tantush believes
he knows why the midfielder wants to return to Egypt.
"If Hassan returns to Egypt, it's because
of private reasons," said Tantush,
"because of his family and his business
affairs. Personally, I think that he's returning to Egypt
a little too soon. He is very professional, I don't think
it'll be easy for him to get used to the Egyptian way of life
again. I am convinced that Hassan could stay in Europe for
two more years."
