Egyptian star Ahmed Hassan started for Anderlecht in
their important Belgian cup Semi Final clash with Germinal.
The game ended in a 1-0 win for Anderlecht. The only
goal came through Germinal's defender Dheedene who put
the ball inside his own net to grant Anderlecht the
win. Hassan played the full match and did well but he
didn't have close attempts on goal.
Ahmed Hassan helped his side to win in
the Belgian cup semifinal. The game ended in a narrow
win for the Mauves who scored via an own goal.
The match was generally poor and Anderlecht
couldn't create many chances despite having most of
the ball possession. On the other hand GBA looked more
dangerous when they come forward.
Hassan has been in excellent form lately
and returned to the main selection. The Egyptian international
played the full match and did well but he couldn't score
or go on goal by himself. Hassan also couldn't create
chances for his teammates because of the heavy marking
from the GBA side who didn't let the Egyptian have much
space. Hassan did well holding the ball under pressure
though and his passing was quite good.
Hassan to be rewarded with new contract?
Belgian sources revealed that Anderlecht's
chairman Van Holsbeeck intends to offer Hassan a new
contract after the great form of the Egyptian in the
last few matches.
"We will certainly negotiate, but first
we must try to end our season properly", he said.
However, Egyptian media claimed that Hassan
already agreed terms with Al-Ahly and will finalise the transfer
deal after the friendly match between Egypt and Argentina.
