Ahmed Hassan started and helped Anderlecht revenge
from their 5-0 defeat at home against the Bavarians.
Anderlecht stunned Bayern Munich in the 2nd leg match
and ended the game in a 1-2 win. While the win is not
enough to advance to UEFA cup quarter finals, it is
still a prestigious result against the Bundesliga top
side.
Six days after Anderlecht suffered humiliating
defeat at Home, Ahmed Hassan and his team-mates surprised
Bayern Munich in their own Arena.
Hassan's side had to beat the Bavarians with score greater
than 5-0 in order to advance to quarter finals which
seemed impossible to achieve. However, a 1-2 away win
is still something to be appreciated.
The Mauves outclassed Bayern, and were able to create
many chances. The humiliation of last week was at home
but in the Allianz Arena, the Belgian honor was somewhat
restored.
Debut Iakovenko and Bouba:
Ariel Jacobs managed the game well, he had some unfit
key players on bench like Boussouffa and Polak so he
started with Oleksandr Iakovenko and Bakary 'Bouba'
Saré for the first time and both players made
a solid debut.
Anderlecht didn't have the best start as they conceded
an early goal through Lucio but they responded well
and showed that despite being behind by a goal, they
are very efficient at goal.
After twenty minutes Anderlecht created the first real
chance and it was immediately in by Serhat.
Ten minutes before the break and Iakovenko made it 2-1
on the board with a brilliant shot. Rensing was just
at the ball, but not enough to prevent it from going
in.
In the second half both teams had chances but none of the
chances materialized to goals.
Egyptian star Ahmed Hassan played the full match and did
well throughout the game. Hassan linked well with his teammates
and his vision and passes helped his side maintain possession.
With this result, Anderlecht are out of UEFA cup with 6-2
aggregate result. They can now concentrate on league and cup.
