The match revealed how great is the gap between them and the German giants Bayern Munich who played with their refined B team as many of the stars and key players were rested. However, the gap was wide enough to let Bayern totally dominate the game from start to end.

Anderlecht's manager Ariel Jacobs put Hassan and the other experienced midfielder Bart Goor on bench and started with younger faces in a hope they can match the Bavarians pace.

However, playing youngsters in place of Vastly experienced Hassan and Goor didn't help the team at all, as the match needed experienced players to hold the ball and control the rhythm of the gameplay.

Anderlecht received an early shock in the 9th minute as the Turkish international Hamit Altintop scored from a great volley shot from long range to give the Bavarians the lead.

In the 44th minute, Anderlecht received another devastating shock as Wasilewski was shown a 2nd yellow card after aerial challenge on Luca Toni.

Just a minute later, Luca Toni scored from narrow angle to double the lead for Bayern Munich just before half time.

In the 2nd half, Ottmar Hitsfield made some changes to increase the attacking options and take advantage from the shortage in Anderlecht's midfield after the sending off of Wasilewski. He brought Klose and the speedy Frank Ribery on and these changes gave the guests total domination.

In the 57th minute, Podolski added the 3rd goal from a one on one situation with the goalkeeper Zitka. Minutes later, Klose scored an easy goal after a fine pass by Ribery.

The 5th goal came through the French International Ribery from a freekick to make the score 0-5 in the 2nd and to make the job impossible for Anderlecht in the 2nd leg.

Hassan came on late in the game and he was in a good shape. He won a few freekicks and made a key pass that could result in a goal. However, the match was already over when Hassan came on and Anderlecht lacked both the desire and the quality to come back into the game. Even limiting the damage wasn't possible for the Mauves as they allowed two more goals to get into their net after Hassan came on.

Now, Hassan's Anderlecht can only dream to win the cup as their chances to compete for the league title and UEFA cup are almost over.
