While defending the league title seems out of reach
for the Mauves, they can still hope to win a competition
this season as they managed to qualify to the cup semi-final
after a 1-1 draw with Dender (1-4 on aggregate).

Anderlecht qualified, now Ahmed Hassan's
club made it to the semi-final of the Belgian Cup after
they tied with Dender 1-1 in the second leg of the quarter
final. This was the side Sherif Ekramy rejected a move

Anderlecht scored their goal through Bart Goor in the
17th minute, though Dender equalized in the last minute
of the game .
Hassan played from the beginning with Anderlecht for

African Cup of Nations, and also played the full game.
Anderlecht won the first leg against Dender 3-0, and
so qualified with an aggregate score of 4-1.
There was an incident between Hassan and Chatelle,
in which the Egyptian was very angry with the team-mate,
and even slammed the team in the dressing room for their
performance.
Anderlecht coach Ariel Jacobs gave a positive spin
on this incident, saying: "I think it is just good
that there are several leaders who stand up for the
team. It was a collective response towards players who
want to go off track," he said.
