Egyptian star Ahmed Hassan played a full match for his side Anderlecht in their away clash with Getafe in the UEFA cup group stage. Despite the defeat of Hassan's side by two goals to one, Anderlecht will advance to the last 32 round because of the defeat of Hapoel Tel Aviv at their home by three goals to one to the Danish side, AaB Aalborg.

Anderlecht are still out of shape as they almost lost hope in the Belgian league title after their 1-0 away defeat to Brugge this week.

The poor form for the Mauves conntinued in tonight's game as they lost by two goals to one to Getafe. The Spanish side scored early on after a deflected shot by Hernandez. The latter struck the ball from the right side of the box to come off the foot of Van Damme and end its path into the back of the net leaving Zitka with no chance.

Hassan's side tried to come back into the game and Hassan created a golden chance to Thereu when the Egyptian sent a superb cross to him in front of goal but Thereu headed the ball wide and squandered the chance.

In the second half, Getafe extended their lead just 4 minutes after the kick off, the goal came through Celestini who buried the ball ghome with his left on the volley after a fine cross from the right wing.

Hassan and his teammates fought hard to get back into the game and the Egyptian almost scored from a low from from close range but he sent it into the body of the goalkeeper.

In the astoppage time, Hassan controlled a loose ball in the left side of the box and crossed the ball to the onside Thereu who headed home to make the score 2-1.

Meanwhile, Israeli side Hapoel Tel Aviv suffered a surprising 1-3 home loss to AaB which meant that Anderlecht can advance to the knock out stage as 3rd in the group.
