Ahmed Hassan got replaced in this weekend's match versus
Lierse. The Egyptian wasn't happy about the coach decision
and went straight to the dressing room.
Hassan and Anderlecht kept chasing the
table leaders Genk as they won their away clash with
Lierse this weekend by four goals to one. Ahmed Hassan
started the match but he got replaced in the 2nd half.
Hassan wasn't happy when he got replaced and he went
straight into the dressing room. The Mauves coach Verchauteren
didn't appreciate Hassan's behaviour and criticized
him but he also stressed that he knows what is Hassan
capable of and described the incident as a minor one.
"We were getting into trouble. That's why I replaced
Hassan. I wasn't happy with his performance. Luckily
Tchité played very good!" The Anderlecht
coach said.
"Hassan didn't do what we expect from him. No
good passes and he neglected his defensive tasks. That's
why I replaced him. But it's just a minor incident.
Hassan has proven what he's worth. I just had to do
something to restore the balance in the team. I cant
appreciate this attitude. If you react the way he did,
you are not a team player. Verchauteren added.
The Egyptian in turn, expressed his unhappiness with the decision
by saying:
Everytime I play a bad game I get replaced.
On the other hand, Anderlecht manager Van Holsbeeck
commented on the situation by saying:
Hassan is a top player and a hero in his
country. So its hard for him at the moment. But his
replacement was correct this Saturday.
Van Holsbeeck also set the 8th of May (Cup
match versus Standard Liege) as the date for Hassan to make
his decision about staying at Anderlecht or leaving to Egypt.
The team manager declared that Anderlecht will search for
a replacement for Hassan in South America if he decided not
to play for the Mauves next season.
