Anderlecht managed to take advantage of Genk's 2-2 draw and won their home match against Roeselare to reduce the points deficit to four points between the Mauves and the table leaders, Racing Genk.

Hassan's side took the lead after 10 minutes through a freekick by the Moroccan forward Boussoufa. However, the guests managed to level the score a few minutes later through Defoor who scored from a header after a cross from a corner kick.

After the equalizer, Anderlecht pushed men forward and managed to score another goal through Mpenza who put the ball home after a cross from Boussoufa.

In the 2nd half, the pressure continued from the homeside and Tchité scored a beautiful 3rd goal to make the score 3-1.

Despite the total control from the Mauves over the game, the guests managed to score another goal from a counter attacking move to end the clash in a 3-2 win.

Egyptian star Ahmed Hassan wasn't available for the match because of suspension. Hassan took a permission from his manager Vercauteren to visit his wife and his new born daughter in Egypt. According to Anderlecht online, the Egyptian should be back in Brussels by Monday evening.

Anderlecht legend praises Hassan:

Famous Anderlecht former star Pär Zetterberg praised Ahmed Hassan and said that the Egyptian can be his successor at the club.

“Hassan is much quicker than me. He played at the right wing, now he’s playing on the midfield and he’s really good.”

“Hassan makes a lot of progress; he makes the other player play better. If we look at what he has the past few weeks, it’s clear that he’s a great leader for Anderlecht”, concludes Zetterberg.

It should be noted that Zetterberg joined the Mauves in the early nineties and remained loyal to them , except for spells at Charleroi (1991-1993) and Olympiakos CFP (2000-2003).

He has twice been football player of the year in Belgium and won the Swedish Footballer of the Year in 1997. He has also won the Belgian as well as the Greek championships three times. Zetterberg has been capped 30 times for Sweden and retired from football after the season 2005-2006.
