Anderlecht suffered a disappointing 2-1 away defeat last weekend versus Gent. Hassan played a full match and provided a pass to Tchite in the final minutes that could change things but a fine save from Gent goalkeeper ended the game in a defeat rather than a draw for Anderlecht.

Tonight, Mbo Mpenza was the star of the game versus Lille in the Champions League as he helped the Mauves to come back into the game twice.

Egyptian start Ahmed Hassan played the game from the start and won a couple of freekicks for his side in the first five minutes.

In the 15th minute, Hassan had an attempt on goal that could give Anderlecht the lead but the goalkeeper Sylva managed to save Hassan's strike.

In the 28th minute of the game, Odemwingie gave Lille. The goal came after a defensive error from Olivier Deschacht who gave the ball away to find a Lille forward who laid it back to Odemwingie in front of goal and the latter made no mistake and buried the ball home with his left to make the score 1-0 for the homeside.

Ten minutes later, Anderlecht managed to score the equalizer through Mbo Mpenza, the goal came after a through pass from Lucas Biglia, Hassan left the ball to Mpenza who faced the keeper and sent the ball home from the one on one situation to make the score 1-1.

In the 42nd minute, both of Hassan and Lille's Tafforeau were shown the yellow card after a heated argument between the two players.

Just a couple of minutes after the kick off of the 2nd half, Fauvergue managed to put Lille ahead again through a powerful shot from inside the area, the ball fell to Fauvergue who tried a shot with his right but it came off Bart Goor and fell back to Fauvergue again and this time he fired it high into the back of the net with his left foot to make the score 2-1.

Immediately after the goal, Mbo Mpenza decided to spoil Lille Party as he played a one two with Tchite and sent the ball home from close range to level the score once more.

After the goal, Lille had a couple of chances to score through a header that gazed the bar and a chip shot that was denied by the bar. On the other side, Anderlecht had more possession after scoring their goal but they lacked the final touch.

Anderlecht coach also contributed to the lack of quality finishing from his side as he took Mbo Mpenza who scored both goals off. Hassan also came off in the 82nd minute and the Mauves looked happy to end the game in a draw.

The draw means that Anderlecht will be out of the Champions league final stages.
