Despite
playing at their home turf, Anderlecht suffered a heavy
and unexpected defeat at the hands of Genk by four goals
to one. Vandenbergh put Genk 0-2 ahead as he scored
in the 2nd and 9th minutes while Boussouffa clawed a
goal back in the 65th minute. However, Ljubojevic scored
a couple of goals in the 86th and 89th minutes to end
the game in a 1-4 defeat for Hassan's side.
RSC Anderlecht suffered there first home
defeat of the season at the hands of championship rivals
KRC Genk. Genk won the match with a 3 goal margine:
1-4
Kevin Vandenbergh had put the visitors ahead 0-2 after
only 10 minutes of play, twice assisted by Wouter Vrancken.
RSCA couldn't do much untill 10 minutes before the intervall
when Biglia's freekick hit the post, but Genk still
going in at half time with the 2 goal advantage.
In the second half Mbark Boussoufa came in to replace
Jelle Van Damme and 15 minutes later he had scored RSCA's
only goal of the day after Genk goalkeeper released
the ball after a good shot by veteran Yves Vanderhaeghe.
Then Anderlecht started to believe in their chances and kept
on pushing Genk, but Genk didn't give in and with just 15
more minutes on the clock Goran Ljubojevic came in to replace
goalscored Kevin Vandenbergh, in the five last minutes of
the game the Croatian scored twice, giving Genk the edge in
the title race: now leading Anderlecht by 3 points.
Special credit goes to Genk trainer Hugo Broos who was the
former Anderlecht head coach, he had to cope with his topscorer
the croatian international Ivan Bosnjak being injured in last
weeks 1-0 victory over KSK Beveren, But he still pulled of
an impressive victory over Ahmed's team and
his ex employer.
Ahmed Hassan played 90 minutes but couldn't help his team
to a point.
