Ahmed Hassan kept the ball well for Anderlecht...
Ahmed Hassan played as playmaker, taking
a free role in the Anderlecht midfield against Real
Madrid.
The hosts had new signings on the pitch including Fabio
Cannavaro and Ruud Van Nistelrooy, both of whom played
well.
Van Nistelrooy scored both of Real's goals in a first
half the Spaniards dominated and outplayed Anderlecht
in. Raul was guilty of missing some chances, as well
as Cassano, but Van Nistelrooy netted twice in quick
succession. The Anderlecht defence tried poor offside
traps, resulting in the goals. The Dutch striker netted
the first after a fine move that ended in him putting
the ball over Anderlecht's reserve keeper. Shortly afterwards,
a cross was swung in for the former Manchester United
man to run onto from close range, putting the ball into
the goal with his knee.

Ahmed Hassan held much of Anderlecht's play, taking the ball
and waiting for support before finding safe passes. He also
played a number of through balls down the flanks, which were
not utilised by the attackers. Hassan however, like the rest
of his team-mates, didn't at any stage of the half get completely
settled into the match. The Egyptian's job was mainly to slow
down the tempo for the Belgians who were struggling to hold
Real back.
The second half saw ten different players make the field for
Anderlecht, as the league season is underway and match fitness
is vital. Anderlecht had a much brighter second half and even
managed to get a goal before the end via Sebastien Siani.
More important for Anderlecht is the Champions League draw
which will take place on Thursday. EgyptianPlayers.com will
bring you the latest on it...
