Walter Baseggio, one of Belgium's top midfielders,
is unhappy that Ahmed Hassan has taken his number 10
shirt as soon as he arrived at Anderlecht. This to many
is a confirmation of Baseggio's exit from the club.
Baseggio's agent Luca Pellizzon told DH
that his client feels threatened by the fact that the
Egypt captain has been given the number 10 jersey, saying:
"I spoke about this with Herman Van Holsbeeck (Anderlecht
manager). He explained to us that it was only for Hassan's
presentation."
However, he added: "I'm sorry but this has had
very bad effects on Walter (Baseggio).
"He said that if he returns to Anderlecht, he will
recover his number 10 shirt. He is a youth player of
the club."
To add to this, Hassan's new manager wants the Belgian
international to show his worth. "Van Holsbeeck
said that if Walter returns to Anderlecht, he has to
prove that he is better than the new transfers of the
club."
Pellizzon continued that Baseggio feels that the club did
not consider him in their decision, commenting that "he
deserves more respect."
