Media: Hassan Wants Konya Move!

"I
will stay at Besiktas until the end of the season..."
EP: Hi Ahmed. How are You?..
AHMED HASSAN: "I'm fine. Thank you very
much."
EP: Ahmed, we want to start with Tigana. What do
you think about your new manager?
AHMED HASSAN: "I think he will put the team
on the right path. Tigana was a big French player and
I think he will be successful at Besiktas."
EP: What do you think about the latest transfer speculations?
AHMED HASSAN: "I said to EP once before.
I have a one year remaining in my contract and it will
expire at the end of the season. You will hear more
speculation. But be sure that they are mere speculations.
I am going nowhere now. I am a Besiktas player and will
stay here until the end of the season."
EP: Konya's board mentioned that you asked your agent
to talk with them regarding a move. Is that true?
AHMED HASSAN: "No, I didn't say anything
about this to my agent. Agents are working but I don't
think of Konya now. El Saka and Ahmed Belal are my friends
but I want to stress that Konya's transfer is only a
speculation. They may want to sign me but we didn't
talk about that at all and I will not to other clubs
while I am still a Besiktas player."
"I
am 70% Decided to return to Egypt..."
EP: Any plans for next season? A possible Ahly or
Zamalek move?
AHMED HASSAN: "It is not clear now. But
I want to return to my homeland. I can say it may be
Zamalek or Ahly. I am seriously considering this and
you can say I am 70% decided to return to Egypt."
EP: Ahmed, you are a very good player, and Egypt
have other class players like you. Can you explain why
you are not as successful at the national team level
as you are with your clubs?

AHMED HASSAN: "This is a problem for all African
national teams. Because the domestic league is not strong
and all the star players are out of the country. Nigeria,
Cameroon and Senegal also have these kind of problems. Look
at the teams that qualified to World Cup 2006. They are not
as strong as Egypt, Cameroon, Nigeria. etc.
"We should have all the quality players together in
one strong league in order to build a football style for the
country. Good players travel to Europe and this affects the
harmony between them and other players within the same national
team as both play different styles of football."
EP: What are Egypt's chances in the upcoming African Cup
of Nations?
AHMED HASSAN: "I think we have a big chance. We
will play at home and this will motivate us to do our best."
EP: What about the current atmosphere at Besiktas?
AHMED HASSAN: "We lost some points, but we still
have targets to achieve and the chance in the league is not
over. Ten points is not a big difference in the league."
EP: Finally, What do you think about the next UEFA Cup
clash against Sevilla?
AHMED HASSAN: "We will play as a new team under
the new coach Tigana. We will try to win but to return home
with at least one point is not bad too. It is not an easy
match you know."
EP: Thank you very much Ahmed Hassan. We congratulate you
on your performances.
AHMED HASSAN: "Thank you."
