Zidan lost to Brondby

Date: 2-11-2003
Wrote: EP's reporter in Denmark Brian Lagoni

Zidan and FCM met leading club Brondby in a crucial encounter. The away team Brondby won by two goals to nil after a good performance. Zizou played the whole game, and scored but his goal was cancelled due to it being offside. The goals for Brondby came from Kamper and Kahlenberg, and they seemed to deserve the win.

After domination from Brondby they scored after 20 minutes as their player Thomas Kahlenberg ran towards the goal and shot, but the keeper saved. The ball went right out to Johansen. He passed it to Kamper, who hit the ball with his right foot and the ball went straight into the corner. 0-1 to Brondby. Then after 25 minutes Brondby got a corner. Zinling passed it short to Kahlenberg. He fired a low shot which unbelievably passed into the goal. The whole defence and the keeper were sleeping in that situation. 0-2.

Despite changes to the FCM side Zizou stayed on. After 74 minutes, he got through and scored but the referee whistled for a correct offside decision. Despite the scare, and after a better second half performance from FCM, Brondby kept going and Peter Foldgast's header almost made it 3-0. Brondby took it easy in the second half as they had to rest for the Schalke 04 encounter in the Uefa Cup, but FCM didn't score, and the game ended 2-0 to Brondby.
