Mohamed Zidan celebrated his 28th birthday just a few days ago and showed one of his better performances in Dortmund shirt today. The Egyptian star simply destroyed Wolfsburg's defense thanks to his dribbling skills, pace and accurate passes.

The lethal duo Zidan and Barrios gave Dortmund an early lead in the 8th minute. Zidan showed his composure in the box as he controlled the ball under pressure from a couple of defenders, he turned and sent a low cross from Barrios who was onside in front of goal, the Argentine slotted the ball home with ease to put Dortmund at front.

Just a couple of minutes later, Kuba made a fine chip to oncoming Zidan who controlled the ball superbly and managed to sidestep the keeper before attempting to bury the ball in. However, the ball came off his other foot and reached Barrios who was left with a simple finish as Zidan put the goalkeeper completely out of game.

In the 37th minute, Dortmund won a freekick which was swung by Zidan into the box, Subotec tried to bury it directly after it missed the defenders but the ball struck the foot of the post and bounced back to find the full back Owomoyela who fired it home leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.

In the 2nd half, Worlfsburg tried to restore some of their lost pride and managed to grab a goal in the 54th minute through their Brazilian striker Grafite who received a through pass which made him in the clear, he faced the keeper and sent the ball home into the far corner to make the score 1-3.

Just a minute later, Zidan attempted to dribble past a couple of players but he was brought down by one of them and couldn't continue. So, he was replaced by Valdez.

With this result, Dortmund moved up one position to become 6th in the table and only five points away from Leverkusen, the leaders.

It should be noted that this is the 3rd consecutive win for Dortmund. The new role of Zidan as a late striker behind Barrios is apparently working much better than the use of Zizou as a play maker.

More on Zidan soon....
