Dortmund scored first in the opning minutes of the first half from a counter attacking move. Barrios made the assist to Kuba who found the target to put the guests in the leading spot.

Four minutes after the kick off of the first half, Senegalese Ba headed home from a corner kick to level the score.

In the 79th minute, the referee awarded Dortmund a penalty kick for a foul inside the box on Nevin Subotec. Sahin converted the spot kick to grant Dortmund the lead once again.

Two minutes later, Hoffenheim's Maicosuel was shown a red card and the home side became down to ten men which made their job to level the score even harder and the gme ended in a 1-2 win for Zidan's side.

It should be noted that Zidan was replaced in the 81st minute by Fuelner.
