Two Stunning Osnabruck Goals

The game was a typical cup match where smaller teams look like world beaters. Osnabruck was not an exception as they managed to survive the initial burst of Dortmund and managed to take the lead in the 37th minute through Barletta who scored from a great overhead kick.

In the 42nd minute, Barletta managed to beat Valdez in the air and headed the ball superbly into the far corner leaving Viedenfeller dumbfounded.

Sahin Equalizer:

Ten minutes after the kick off of the second half, Nuri Shahin took advantage of a poorly headed clearance and slotted the ball home ion the volley into the bottom corner. That goal gave Dortmund a glimmer of hope but they didn't look like controlling the game though.

Zidan Fury:

Zidan started the game well but he faded later on. He looked anonymous especially in the second half. The only chance he created was through a pass to Kuba who crossed the ball low in front of goal but Valdez failed to put it in.

Klopp decided to replace Zidan with young French striker Le Tallec, the Egyptian didn't look happy at all after the substitution. He headed to the bench and kicked it in anger. It seems that he is either frustrated with his performance and match result or he is no longer happy with Jurgen Klopp's decisions to substitute him every match in the second half.

Another Osnabruck Goal:

Despite Dortmund's pressure, Osnabruck managed to score in the other end from a superbly crafted counter attacking move to make the score 3-1. Dortmund tried to come back into the game but it was already late and the only thing they managed to do was narrowing the deficit to one goal in stoppage time. The goal came through Barrios who rose high to head the ball home and make the result 3-2.

With this result, Dortmund's cup run has ended. They had a golden chance to reach the semi final but they failed to deal with an inferior Osnabruck side who looked much more organized.

More on Zidan soon....
