The excellent form of Mohamed Zidan in the preseason continued in the first official match as Zizou managed to score the 3rd goal for Dortmund in the cup match versus 4th division side SpVgg Weiden.

Zidan didn't start the game, but he on in the 64th minute to replace Valdez. Zizou managed to make a positive impact in the few minutes he played. Zidan forced the home side player Schrepel to foul him in the 86th minute and the result was a 2nd yellow card for the player. This gave advantage to Dortmund as it exposed SpVgg Weiden defense and enabled Zidan to score the 3rd goal from an one-on-one situation.

Zidan's goal came in the last minute of the game when he received the ball elegantly and sent it with one touch to a teammate who sent it back to Zizou who raced clear behind the defense, faced the keeper, round him with a clever touch and slided it home.

Not only this, but Zidan had two attempts on goal rather than his goal. The first from a shot which was blocked by defense and another shot that was denied by the keeper.

Next Saturday, Zidan and Dortmund will kick off the Bundesliga new season with a match versus Koln.
